What I like about this excerpt was how much time the author took to describe the entire place. The author really dissected the place into several parts and made sure that each place had a specific description. The author tried to fit in every detail into the story that it was so clear to the reader. But along with the description, the author was also able to incorporate feelings into the description. You could tell how the author felt about the place. I could certainly borrow this technique and add more life into my descriptions by incorporating them with certain feelings.
