Reaction to Americanization Is Tough On “Macho”

The use of comparison and contrast in this essay was a great way to make the point clear to the reader. If the author just gave examples of what macho was, the effect may not have been as strong. The different contexts that the word macho was used in made it instantly clear to the reader what the author was trying to say. It was easy to understand how, truly, the word had become bastardized. Furthermore, the author did not just give a comparison with contrast but expounded on this with examples; not just one but several. This made sure that the reader got the point. And the reader will definitely get the point. It was also interesting how the author explained that there really was a deeper and bigger issue to all this. She pretty much used the whole essay as her example of cultural misunderstanding.
