This short paragraph is basically all about a single pencil rack and its contents. The author was just able to describe each of the elements in the rack with much detail that it was easy to visualize as if it were right in front of you. In fact there was not much to the whole essay. It was basically a list of things. However this piece was able to elicit a certain emotion, an emotion of either boredom or procrastination. It does not much about the author but one could easily imagine what the author was seeing and going through.
